Imam al-Sadiq (AS) said, in answer to Abu Basirs question about the verse: “but do not squander wastefully” ‘When a man spends all his money and remains penniless. Abu Basir then asked, ‘Is spending in such a way for something lawful still called squandering? He replied, ‘Yes.
