Imam Ali (AS) said, Keep vigil at night and make your stomachs lean; and take away from your bodies so that you may be generous with it upon your souls.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : أسْهِرُوا عُيُونَكُمْ وَ ضَمِّرُوا بُطُونَكُمْ وَ خُذُوا مِنْ أجْسادِكُمْ تَجُودُوا بِها عَلى أنْفُسِكُمْ
