Imam Ali (AS) said, Keeping away from evil deeds is better than earning [reward through] good deeds.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : أفْضَلُ مِنِ اكْتِسابِ الحَسَناتِ اِجْتِنابُ السَّيِّئاتِ
