Imam Ali (AS), when asked about covetousness, said, ‘It is the desire for something little through the loss of a lot.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) ـ وقد سُئلَ عنِ الحِرصِ : ما هُو ؟ ـ : هُو طَلَبُ القَليلِ بإضاعَةِ الكَثيرِ.

Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘Covetousness is a terminal [source of] distress.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : الحِرْصُ عَناءٌ مُؤبَّدٌ.
