hadith 3058
Imam Ali (AS) said, It is seldom that one who turns back [and retreats] returns to the front.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : قَلَّما يَعُودُ الإدْبارُ إقْبالاً
hadith 3059
Imam Ali (AS) said, From the signs of turning backward is accompanying the vile.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : مِنْ عَلاماتِ الإدْبارِ مُقارَنَةُ الأرْذالِ

Imam Ali (AS) said, From the signs of turning backward is thinking ill of the one who gives you good advice.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : مِنْ عَلاماتِ الإدْبارِ سُوءُ الظَّنِّ بالنَّصيحِ
hadith 3061
Imam Ali (AS) said, Turning backward is evinced by four things: bad planning, foul extravagance, lack of consideration and too many excuses.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : يُسْتَدَلُّ علَى الإدْبارِ بِأرْبَع: سُوْءُ التَّدْبيرِ وَ قُبْحُ التَّبْذيرِ وَ قِلَّةُ الإعْتِبارِ وَ كَثْرَةُ الاعْتِذارِ (الاغْتِرارِ)

Imam Ali (AS) said, The merits in advancing forward are the demerits in turning backward.
