Imam Ali (AS) said, The similitude of this world is like your shadow, if you stop it stops and if you seek it, it moves further away.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : مَثَلُ الدُّنيا كَظِلِّكَ إنْ وَقَفْتَ وَقَفَ وَ إنْ طَلَبْتَهُ بَعُدَ

hadith 3480
Imam Ali (AS) said, The similitude of this world is like the snake, its feel is soft but it has deadly venom in its fangs. The inexperienced and ignorant one reaches towards it while the wise and intelligent one is cautious of it.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : مَثَلُ الدُّنيا كَمَثلِ الحَيَّةِ لَيِّنٌ مَسُّها والسَّمُّ القاتِلُ في جَوفِها يَهْوي إلَيْهَا الغِرُّ الجاهِلُ وَ يَحْذَرُهَا اللَّبيبُ العاقلُ
