Imam Ali (AS) said, The surmise of a believer is a divination.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : ظَنُّ المُؤْمِنِ كِهانَةٌ
hadith 5852
Imam Ali (AS) said, The conjecture of a man is to the extent of his intellect.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : ظَنُّ الرَّجُلِ عَلى قَدْرِ عَقْلِهِ

Imam Ali (AS) said, The conjecture of a person is the measure of his intellect and his action is the truest witness about his origin.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : ظَنُّ الإنْسانِ ميزانُ عَقْلِهِ وَ فِعْلُهُ أصْدَقُ شاهِد عَلى أصْلِهِ

Imam Ali (AS) said, The conjecture of the people of insight and intelligence is the closest thing to correctness.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : ظَنُّ ذَوِي النُّهى وَ الألْبابِ أقْرَبُ شَيْء مِنَ الصَّوابِ

Imam Ali (AS) said, One whose supposition [about others] is good, overlooks [their lapses].
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : مَنْ حَسُنَ ظَنُّهُ أهْمَلَ

Imam Ali (AS) said, One whose assumption [about others] is negative, scrutinizes.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : مَنْ ساءَ ظَنُّهُ تَأمَّلَ

Imam Ali (AS) said, One who thinks positively [about others], his intention becomes good.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : مَنْ حَسُنَ ظَنُّهُ حَسُنَتْ نِيَّتُهُ

Imam Ali (AS) said, When one thinks good of you, then prove his supposition to be true.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : مَنْ ظَنَّ بِكَ خَيْراً فَصَدِّقْ ظَنَّهُ

Imam Ali (AS) said, One who belies the evil assumption about his brother has a sound covenant [of brotherhood] and a relaxed heart.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : مَنْ كَذَّبَ سُوءَ الظَّنِّ بِأخيهِ كانَ ذا عَقْد صَحيح وَ قَلْب مُسْتريح

Imam Ali (AS) said, One whose thoughts [about others] are negative assumes the disloyalty of the one who is not disloyal to him.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : مَنْ ساءَتْ ظُنُونُهُ اِعْتَقَدَ الخِيانَةَ بِمَنْ لا يَخُونُهُ

Imam Ali (AS) said, One who thinks ill of one who is not disloyal ends up thinking positively of that which is not so.

Imam Ali (AS) said, One who does not think positively of others alienates himself from everyone.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : مَنْ لَمْ يُحْسِنْ ظَنَّهُ اِسْتَوْحَشَ مِنْ كُلِّ أحَد

Imam Ali (AS) said, Little conjecture [and uncertainty] is [a means of falling into] doubt.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : يَسيرُ الظَّنِّ شَكٌّ
hadith 5866
Imam Ali (AS) said, By Allah! Allah, the Glorified, will not punish a believer after he believes except because of his thinking ill [of others] and his bad character.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : وَ اللّهِ لايُعَذِّبُ اللّهُ سُبْحانَهُ مُؤْمِناً بَعْدَ الإيمانِ إلاّ بِسُوءِ ظَنِّهِ وَ سُوءِ خُلْقِهِ

Imam Ali (AS) said, Do not think of a word that has been spoken by someone as evil while you find a possible positive meaning in it.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : لاتَظُنَّنَّ بِكَلِمَة بَدَرَتْ مِنْ أحَد سُوءً وَ أنْتَ تَجِدُ لَها فِي الخَيْرِ مُحتَمَلاً

Imam Ali (AS) said, The one who thinks ill [of others] has no faith.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : لادينَ لِمُسِيءِ الظَّنِّ

Imam Ali (AS) said, A servant does not think positively of Allah, the Glorified, but that Allah, the Glorified, is just as his positive thoughts are of Him.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : لايُحْسِنُ عَبْدٌ الظَّنَّ بِاللّهِ سُبْحانَهُ إلاّ كانَ اللّهُ سُبْحانَهُ عِنْدَ حُسْنِ ظَنِّهِ بِهِ

Imam Ali (AS) said, One who thinks positively about people earns love from them.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : مَنْ حَسُنَ ظَنُّهُ بِالنّاسِ حازَ مِنْهُمُ المَحَبَّةَ

Imam Ali (AS) said, Thinking ill corrupts matters and incites one to evils.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : سُوءُ الظَّنِّ يُفْسِدُ الأُمُورَ وَيَبْعَثُ عَلَى الشُّرُورِ

Imam Ali (AS) said, Thinking evil (of others) destroys the one who adopts it and saves the one who avoids it.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : سُوءُ الظَّنِّ يُرْدي مُصاحِبَهُ وَ يُنْجي مُجانِبَهُ

Imam Ali (AS) said, One who is overcome by negative thoughts leaves no room for reconciliation between him and his friend.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : مَنْ غَلَبَ عَلَيْهِ سُوءُ الظَّنِّ لَمْ يَتْرُكْ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ خَليل صُلْحاً

Imam Ali (AS) said, Thinking good of others lightens ones grief and saves one from being shackled by sin.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : حُسْنُ الظَّنِّ يُخَفِّفُ الهَمَّ وَ يُنْجي مِنْ تَقَلُّدِ الإثْمِ

Imam Ali (AS) said, Thinking positive of others is one of the best practices and most excellent allotments.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : حُسْنُ الظَّنِّ مِنْ أحْسَنِ الشِّيَمِ وَ أفْضَلِ القِسَمِ

Imam Ali (AS) said, The positive thinking of a servant about Allah, the Glorified, is to the extent of his hope in Him.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : حُسْنُ ظَنِّ العَبْدِ بِاللّهِ سُبْحانَهُ عَلى قَدْرِ رَجائِهِ لَهُ

Imam Ali (AS) said, Thinking positive is one of the best attributes and the most bountiful gifts.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : حُسْنُ الظَّنِّ مِنْ أفْضَلِ السَّجايا وَ أجْزَلِ العَطايا

Imam Ali (AS) said, Thinking positive means making your actions sincere and hoping that Allah will forgive your missteps.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : حُسْنُ الظَّنِّ أنْ تُخْلِصَ العَمَلَ وَ تَرْجُو مِنَ اللّهِ أنْ يَعْفُوَ عَنِ الزَّلَلِ

Imam Ali (AS) said, Be careful not to think negatively, for indeed thinking ill of others corrupts worship and increases the burden [of sin].

Imam Ali (AS) said, Cowardice, greediness and stinginess are evil characteristics that are brought together by thinking ill of Allah, the Glorified.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : اَلْجُبْنُ وَ الحِرْصُ وَ البُخْلُ غَرائِزُ سُوء يَجْمَعُها سُوءُ الظَّنِّ بِاللّهِ سُبْحانَهُ
