Faḍaʾil al-Shīʿa
A brief collection by Shaykh al-Ṣadūq (d. 381/991) on the merits promised to the Shīʿa — forgiveness, intercession, the standing of their dead, and recompense for the hardship that adherence brought in the periods when it was dangerous to profess, which is the setting most of this material comes from. It is the companion piece to Ṣifāt al-Shīʿa: where that book sets out the conduct expected, this one sets out what is promised in return, and the two are ordinarily read and printed together. Its brevity is part of its character — no argument, no commentary, simply the reports on one subject gathered in one place.

About this collection
Faḍaʾil al-Shīʿa
A brief collection by al-Shaykh al-Ṣadūq (d. 381/991) on the merits promised to the Shīʿa: forgiveness, the intercession of the Imams, the standing of their dead, and recompense for the hardship that adherence brought in the periods when professing it openly was dangerous — which is the setting most of this material comes from, and the thing most easily forgotten while reading it. It holds 45 reports in this edition.
It is the companion piece to Ṣifāt al-Shīʿa, and the two are ordinarily read and printed together. Where that book sets out the conduct expected of a person who claims the name, this one sets out what is promised in return. Taken alone, either can be made to say something its author plainly did not intend.
Its brevity is part of its character. There is no argument and no commentary — simply the reports on one subject, gathered in one place, in the order al-Ṣadūq put them.
